Q: I would like you to shoot my wedding, how do I start the process?

A: The easiest way is to call Washington Talent at 301.762.1800 and ask for any available wedding specialist. However, if you would like to contact us after normal business hours, please complete the form on the right side of this page, click submit, and we will get back to you the NEXT business day. If possible, we would like to meet you both in person so you can get to know your future photographer and can ask us everything you need. Once you’ve decided on the photographer that is right for you, we will send you a contract for you to sign and return with a deposit. After that, you can check “find a photographer” off your wedding to-do list.

Q: Do you do same sex weddings?

A: YES – and thank you for asking, Please click here!

Q: What does a wedding photography cost?

A: We have a photographer for any wedding; large or small. We also have photographers for any budget starting at $995.

Q: How much do I need to deposit?

A: Once you have approved and authorized your contract, simply return it with a 50% deposit.  The balance isn’t due until 10 days prior to the wedding day. If you need special financing, please feel free to ask.

Q: How far should we book in advance?

A: We suggest 6-12 months in advance, or as soon as you have a date. That said, it’s never too early or late to call.

Q: Who will be shooting the wedding?

A: The professionals at Washington Photo are at your service. Once you have spoken to one of our wedding specialists, you will most likely be paired with a specific photographer. You can meet with that photographer in person, on the phone or via Skype depending on your preference. The photographer you select will be named in your contract and will be at your wedding. If you are concerned about budget, you can book a generic photographer with the confidence of the Washington Talent Photography team behind you.

Q: Do you shoot with an assistant?

A: This is a GREAT question, but can only be answered based upon the package you choose and the number of guests and locations involved to make the right choice. A 2nd shooter offers a different, but complementary, perspective and allows us to work efficiently throughout the entire day, though really not needed for smaller more intimate affairs.

Q: When will I get to see my wedding photos?

A: Your full color proof book will generally be ready within 2-3 weeks following the wedding.  You should also receive a link via email to see the images on line a few days prior to receiving the book. We go through a careful process editing the best images from the day and processing each of them to the best of our ability.

Q: Where are you based?

A: We are based in Rockville, MD, but have offices in Owings Mills, Philadelphia, Cherry Hill, Miami Beach and San Diego. If you aren’t near any of these locations, please read the next question.

Q: Do you travel?

A: We love to travel and will generally arrive at least the day before the event to help ensure that unexpected travel delays do not make us late or miss your big day. Let us know where you are and we’ll figure out the best way to get us out to you.

Q: When should we do the wedding portraits?

A: In a perfect world, beginning portraits three hours prior to the ceremony is best, if the bride and groom have, like most these days, chosen to see each other prior to the ceremony. If not, two hours prior and one hour immediately following the ceremony works too. Shooting before the ceremony allows you to emotionally connect with each other…be as one, if that’s not enough, it affords you and the wedding party a chance to enjoy the cocktail hour and mingle with your family and guests. Shooting after the ceremony, depending on the time, could allow you to take advantage of the setting sun and its softer light. There is no ‘right’ answer.  Ask your photographer for their opinion once they know ALL of the details about your families and the location.

Q: Do you take getting-ready shots?

A: These are some of our favorite photographs to capture. The energy and excitement of everyone moving about is there, but we can also capture the calm and solemn moments when the bride and groom think about their wedding vows, the friends and family around them and everything leading up to this moment. PLEASE… let us be a part of this very special time.

Q: Do you shoot in RAW?

A: Yes. RAW allows the highest quality and image detail when post processing the images.

Q: Do you shoot in B&W?wpid6204-LindsShawnPorts-1103-2.jpg

A: In today’s world of high resolution digital images, we can create any image in B&W, sepia or any other monochromatic tone. However, we generally shoot the image in color then convert to B&W before your proof book is made.

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A: We are mostly a Canon based company, but a few of our shooters have been “grandfathered” in using their Nikon gear and we’ve recently we’ve even added a NEW Fuji Pro Panoramic camera. Whatever the brand, remember these very important words, “The photographer makes the camera, not the other way around.”

Q: Do you shoot video?

A: Cinematography is the future of our industry, but it’s just not there quite yet. One of the many benefits of the Washington Talent Agency is that we not only offer amazing services in music, but have an awesome video department too. Further, since we work together all the time, we NEVER play tug-o-war with the bride and groom.

Q: Pros and Cons of a wedding package with or without an album?

A: At Washington Photo we only offer the highest quality, hand made wedding albums. We offer a complete line of albums and online album creation tool to make the design process simple, fun and easy. If you are on the fence about a package with an album or without, click the video below which might help you choose.

Q: Who chooses the photographs in the album?

A: Whatever works best for you! Whether your album has 50, 100 or more images, the sooner they are selected, the sooner you have a beautiful album in your home. We are happy to assist or do the complete selection process for you. Seven out of ten couples tell friends they don’t have or didn’t get their wedding album in a timely fashion is because they haven’t gotten around to choosing the pictures for the album. 🙂 We can help!

You should have your finished album in your hands no more than 30 days from when the images have been selected.

Q: Will you post the photographs online?wpid8893-PonchockFB-515.jpg

A: Of course. After all, this isn’t the dark ages is it? However, if you prefer your images not be public, just let us know in writing at least 10 days prior to your wedding.
