Jack Hartzman has been photographing special events since 1980.
Heavily influenced by the theatre, and classically trained in portrait and wedding photography by the late “Monte Zucker”, Jack utilized his passion for the “LIVE” look of events and quickly became one of the nation’s premiere Special Event “Room Shot” photographers.
Jack and his partner of more than 20 years Monica Vidal, opened MH Photography & Concepts in 1990 and have been capturing historical moments in the Washington, D.C. area ever since. Their credits include the creating images for the past 5 Presidential Inaugurations, 6 NFL Super Bowls, the 1996 Olympics, the 2000 Sugar Bowl, 5 NCAA Basketball Final Fours, grand openings of the Philadelphia, PA, Atlantic City, NJ, Wildwood, NJ, Honolulu, HI and Washington, D.C. Convention Centers, as well as the openings of the Holocaust Museum, FDR Memorial, Women in Military Service Memorial, WWII Memorial and the implosion of the old Washington Convention Center. Jack has photographed weddings from Aruba to Israel, San Diego to Miami and corporate events from Lima, Peru to Sidney, Australia.
In 2005, Jack and Monica joined forces with The Washington Talent Agency, aka Washington Talent, Photo and Video (WTPV) www.pegg.wpengine.com. Jack currently oversees the operations of more than 10 event photographers, Washington Video Productions, and is the Creative Director for Washington Talent.
In addition to Special Events, Jack shoots an average of 25 weddings, 35 Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and several dozen portraits making up approximately 200 events shot annually. Jack estimates he captures more than 250,000 images each year and supports a triple redundant image server of more than 60 TBs.
Jack is married to his wife Monica and has two children; David (19) who stays behind the camera and Deanna (16) who likes to be in front of it.
